I've never seen or heard of this make.  Is anyone familiar with the Penn-Air system?

Ad verbiage:  "Very cool vintage toaster. Penn-Air. The toast drops out the chute when it's done. Working."

More pix in the listing.

It drops down the chute when its done. What a novel idea. I’ve never seen a toaster like this before or heard of Penn-Air appliances. Thanks for posting it Ralph. Just when you’ve thought you’ve seen everything ya learn something new.

It's not far from you Eddie, but I know your Dualit is a far superior machine.  I see this toaster as a less finicky answer to Sunbeam's automatic models.

If it wasn't so cheap looking, I might pursue it.  I tend to think that no amount of polishing would make a difference.

I have seen this toaster or one very similar in the past posted online in some other page, maybe a toaster collectors page. As well I'd almost swear that I saw a new version of it being advertized for sale online while perusing the interwebs.

Very interesting and unique design, I can't find a video of one working anywhere on the internet. For $20 it would be worth acquiring, play around with it some, make a YouTube clip of it in operation, and pass it along if it doesn't meet your standards.

Thanks Pete for posting that link.

Now that I've read about its design, this thing is quirky enough to pursue.  The price is certainly right, and maybe with some aluminum polish it will shine up a little.  I will have to coordinate with my friend to see if he wants to buzz up to Novato.  Petaluma isn't far at all from there.  I've contacted the seller so we'll see if this pans out.

Facinating.

Never seen or even heard of the PennAir toaster before now. I imagine it's something of a collector item these days. Probably went for at least what the seller was asking ($500?)...

PennAir sure sounds to me something like a JC Penney product as in Penncrest... --Which it's probably not...

I don't know where that $500 figure came from.  The ad had a price of $20.
