That General Electric dryer is most-likely the companion to the GE washer my grandmother bought long ago, of which I'd wish she had gotten when she replaced the Kelvinator she'd kept the dryer to with the knob horizontally on the top left corner panel flanked with a toggle switch that was an ordinary lever you'd see used as a light switch in other applications... That then, after an attempted Kenmore replacement had to be returned of which in turn the new dryer was a basic White-Westinghouse, and these appliances were in the middle of the laundry room plugged into outlets in the ceiling of which the White West's DC cord could be more easily plugged into...
And I hardly even remember that washer the GE replaced other than it briefly placed at the curb, and the washer before that being a Sears front loader way before my time... The washer for it was a neat machine with the Hot Wash only available with a Warm Rinse while the other wash temps of Warm and Cold sported a rinse that was cold... Three Water Levels and Two Speeds also were featured so too bad I never got to know the rest of the line up for these "special" General Electric appliances most-likely sold at the local K Mart...
What a surprise to see after the washer and dryer had long been plugged into the ceiling against the wall, with that GE washer after a brief period there, then got replaced by a 1989 WCI-built Frigidaire...

The backsplash on the dryer looks like it used parts from the Hotpoint/Penncrest products. For whatever reason, even though those products were not as fully-featured as the GE products, they frequently used this taller backsplash.
This particular dryer suffers from what a friend of mine refers to as "unfortunate looks".

That awkward tall dryer console is reminiscent of early to mid JCPenny washers/dryers.
The washers with their side opening lid and rim-flo lint filter. I had about three of these back when I was repairing in the mid 80s. All were avocado and all stank from the lint that would get thrown out of the lint tray during the spin cycle and would stick to the side of the outer tub (and not slide down and get washed away) and just stay there..... and stink. Terrible design flaw, much like the FF washer in general.
