The Super Fast dryer was a new introduction for 1956-57; larger capacity, higher heating ratings (up to 8000W electric, 33,000 BTU gas) and nearly double the airflow of 200 Cu Ft/min. This new model was the first of Bendix to require a 4" vent.
Previous "Fluff & Tumble" dryer models were still offered but became more of the economy choice in the lineup. |

Many early dryers then had to cope with wash either from wringer machines or automatics with comparatively low final spin rpm. Thus some either ran from hot to boiling across the board, others were marketed as "super fast" or whatever touting their high heat output that got the job done quickly.
www.automaticwasher.org/c... Consider also domestic textiles and often clothing were often made from heavier fabrics than today. Most popular fabric for bed linen was muslin which being made from thicker yarns than percale is heavier and holds more water.
