The very first Whirlpool of my life was my beloved Aunt Margaret's mid 60's Whirlpool dryer, featuring the narrow oblong box just like the ones in your link.
The dryer had a glass window in the door, tumbled very rapidly, and made a distinct long single note woooooo sound, a bit high-pitched, owing I've learned to the fast blower necessary to dry a load in a reasonable amount of time from Whirlpool machines spinning at only 550 rpm's. With Margaret's laundry arriving from a 900 rpm Easy Spindrier, the mighty whirlpool made quick work of the loads. To this day, it remains the only drier I have ever loved and coveted. Did you go after these machines, Greg? |
