There’s no pad under the motor that might make a noise but maybe it’s talking about the bearing strips under the drum at the front.
If one or more of those are worn out, they should be replaced soon because it will become metal to metal and it will tear up the drum and the drum shroud If it has gone to metal and metal, you can replace the pads and reverse the drum so that the rough surface that has been created on the lip of the drum won’t destroy the new pads. These dryers are fairly easy to take apart just take the front off you do it all from the front remove the front shroud, release the belt, pull the drum out and start inspecting. If you don’t wanna fool, with it you should get a local appliance guy to do it should be easy to find somebody that can still work on this dryer. Let us know what you find, John. |

Hi Bill, glad you found the problem. That’s a very common problem for the blower to come loose and need replacement., Usually I think that is more of a rumbling or vibrating sound, but scraping might describe it as well.
Clean everything else up and put a drop or two of oil on the rear rollers, and on the idler, pulley bearing, and hopefully the dryer will be good for quite a few years yet. John. |
