I agree, more like a 50. Found in 1961 Spring Summer Catalog. Single speed with cycles for delicates, w'n'w, and normal. 3 water levels an 3 temps. 10 pound capacity. Price $189.95. $20 more offered rotoswirl agitator and 2nd speed.
The 1961 fall/winter catalog has a washer that looks exactly like the above, that's $5 less, and offers 2 speeds with the comparable 3 basic cycles, 3 water evels, 5 temp combos and lint filter. |

Good eye, gents. Most definitely a FIFTY or 500 series machine.
From the service manual. The editors should have caught this error. Description of both models were swapped with the images. Not the first time I’ve caught similar issues with Sears service manuals… The models with the roto swirl Bob mentions was the 710, the non push button version of the SEVENTY. |

I get to see this machine once more IRL. This is the machine I have told you all about that a woman who occasionally would babysit me had in her home and was one of my earliest experiences with the operation of a belt drive Whirlpool-built KM. Well after it was replaced and I was an adult in my 30s was when I learned that my father had bought that machine new when he was in medical school. After The Divorce, my family gifted it to Mrs Ardis. Kenny, you've brightened my day.
