Many thanks to Todd(washerlover) for his generosity and willingness to wait for shipping for me to be the new caretaker of some of his great collection. I’m very happy to be the new owner of these machines and wanted to post some pictures for the archives. But mainly to thank Todd.

First the great Norge built Montgomery Wards washer.

(Don’t look Ralph the images may cause flash backs.)

Fantastic! Those machines look great and I’m sure you’ll have plenty of fun with them. And a box of Axion to boot!

I’m looking forward to my own delivery from Todd. Exciting times — for us with the new machines and for Todd starting his new life in Hawai’i.

Mark

Sweet Wards.  I was always enamored of them.

Melvin, I'm thrilled you were able to land all these. And I used Axion in the Keenmore 800's Enzyme Soak cycle.

What a lineup!  I'll always swoon for a Penta-Swirl, love those agitators.

I don't do a lot of pre-soaking anymore, but Axion was always my favorite product to use.  The scent was really clean and bright.

Nice saves, Melvin! Love all three, especially the Wards set! The GE is a '67 C model, with the dead giveaway of the blue tones used throughout the new control panel design for that model year. The 844 appears to be a variation of the 840 with the speed and temp selections from the lighted panel 850 and a bleach dispenser.

And yes, a huge thank you to Todd for his generosity and patience on waiting for shippers to arrive. The solid tub Norge arrived this Monday!

Ben

Thanks everyone. I promise to take good care of them. Thanks for the info Ben and can’t wait to see the Norge restoration. John L has close to the same one at the museum.

The Montgomery Wards dryer got some TLC today. Mainly cleaning and I didn’t think it was too bad. Check out the shoestring someone installed at some point for holding the top up.

Those shoe strings were installed in both their washers and dryers by the manufacturer so when you popped the top, it wouldn’t fall of/backwards. Pretty clever!

All of these years later it still functions as intended and it is indeed very handy.

Now I know what that world famous axial fan looks like that pushes the air through the drum. Surprisingly a simple design, thought it would have been more complicated but surprisingly simple.
