I am devastated, my Whirlpool power clean dishwasher has died, The motor has kicked the bucket and now I have to look for a modern new unit. I have a backup vintage Kitchenaid dishwasher but my husband doesn't want me to put it in the kitchen, he wants a new one. I disagree, but what can you do. Since he wants me to do my homework, now I have to see whats good out there, I dread it, since all the new machines take so long to wash the dishes. Any recommendations on a new unit.
Doug

Why not replace the pump? New pumps can be had for cheaper than a new unit and it’s very easy to change it on a power clean dishwasher. You wouldn’t even need to pull the unit out of the cabinet.

“But my husband wants a new one”

I have one of those.  Very frustrating.  But you’re right sometimes you just have to compromise.  We have a BOSCH 800 series and very happy with it.  That thing cleans things I never thought it would.  But I agree with the comment to replace the motor if you can.  That wasn’t an option for us in this house.

If going for new, I will always recommend F&P dishdrawers. Had a pair from 2003 until 2019. Replaced that with an AEG Comfortlift, which I replaced at the beginning of this year with another set of dishdrawers.

Thanks for the all the comments and info. But the motor/pump has to be #3369575 or 3368475, others won't work for some strange reason from what I have been told. Looks like I am going dishwasher shoppng, uck.

To my knowledge there was only one engineering revision on the Power Clean pump, which was the switch to the screened soil collection chamber. This style pump will work in an older unit. I have a 2nd revision pump with a quiet tuned motor in my porcelain tank ultra wash. There maybe a difference in a direct feed vs a tower feed system, but the manifold outlet is interchangeable, just pull the one off the old pump and put it on the new one if it’s different.

Doug, 3369575 and 3368475 don't search for a pump/motor.  I get one search hit on (WP)3369575 as a dishwasher latch handle.  A hit for 3368475 as a use/care manual for a washer.  What is the model number of the dishwasher?

Man, that must be so frustrating...

I’m so sorry to hear about your dishwasher. I had to give up a 2003 Maytag due to rack rot and control board failure about a year and a half ago, so I can relate. That said, if you must get a new machine, I personally adore the entry-level Bosch. I have had mine ever since the Maytag died, and I must say, it cleans every bit as well. My only complaints are that the filter is not self cleaning, and that the lack of an exposed heating element for drying leads to plastics not drying fully. Mine is the black model, the SHE3AR76UC. It is also available in white and stainless, the SHE3AR72UC and the SHE3AR75UC respectively. The only part that is expensive through most retailers at this time is the heater and the pump, as they are made as one unit. However, they can be had on EBay (new or used) for a very reasonable price. Hope this helps,
Thatwasherguy.

I would contact Eurton Electric in Wittier California. They will rebuild almost any motor, even fractional horsepower ones like this. In my previous job as a building super and engineer for a TV station, I had them rebuild many small HVAC VAV fan motors. Those motors were nearly 20 years old and most of them real unicorns with no available off the shelf replacement. If you want the correct motor get your current one rebuilt. Expect to shell out $300 or so.

Micro filtration

For your new dishwasher I would recommend a Whirlpool or Whirlpool made dishwasher with micro filtration. I got the Maytag version. This short video shows what to look for at the bottom of machines you are looking at. The filtration is built in and is continuous, the filter cup shown is only there to catch large pieces of food that could clog the system. These machines preform very well and so far are lasting well. I did see a Whirlpool version at Home Depot for about $600. I paid more during the Covid and did get the third rack.

I thought that this pump motor would fit my machine, I saw this on ebay, and inquired about it and he stated that it wouldn't work in my machine and that I would need motor/pump 3369475. The other number 3369575 (service man gave me)I can't find at all. I goofed on the number 3368475 that was wrong, it should have been 3369475 sorry.
