After spending 6 years of searching and inquiring, I finally have a Maytag A806 set! As of yesterday, I’ve completed putting the dryer together which consisted of replacing the burned out console bulb.
I’d post a photo but since I am limited on storage at the moment, here’s a quick video clip of the console lights turning on. CLICK HERE TO GO TO Maytag85's LINK |

Reply #1: thanks for the kind words Bob, beyond ecstatic myself since I’ve been in search of a Maytag A806 set and now own one.
Reply #2: thanks Dan! Need to get a bright white bulb for the washer next time I am at Lowe’s, the bulb I put in is a bright white bulb and not a cool white but since it works, going to just leave it alone for the time being. Reply #3: thanks! Seems like the Maytag A806 were one of the last Maytag’s to have quality that the 1975 and older Maytags had since in 1976 the console simply was chrome plated plastic while the A806 was still chrome. |

Now here’s a question I have about the door switch and drum light. The drum light comes on whenever the timer is moved from the off position or when the dryer is running (continues to run with the door open but don’t really care about that) but doesn’t turn on when it’s in the off position. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Wired up everything properly and am a little stumped by that.

The Maytag dryer that’s paired up with the A806 isn’t a true 806 dryer but is one I put together with a DE306 I had already and a 808 console for the low and regular temperature options. Next, I’ll try to locate or possibly use a 408 auto dry timer I have to add even more features that weren’t ever offered on the DE806 from 1966 to early 1976.
