I believe it's a thermostat for a GE furnace. GE used to sell a lot of home heating plants. |

We had one like it for our coal furnace in the 1960's. It has a temp control knob for day and another for night. You can see one on each side of the box near the bottom. The clock could be set up like a timer to activate the night and day settings at certain times of day.
