Really nice styling. SC oven and fluorescent work light. If this house were set up for gas cooking, I'd want this stove.
$75 in Fort Wayne, IN

These were built by Tappan. Yes, they were nice looking but they weren’t great stoves they were adequate.
GE started selling these when the sales of gas stoves started to increase throughout the 80s before they started building their own gas ranges, the ranges GE ended up building are far better than the Tappan built ranges. Some of the many weak points of this tap and range were plastic knobs that broke, bad door hinges, the glass in the door usually rattled and came loose, the light switch usually broke in the control panel, and it was generally just a flimsy range we still have customers with these in fact, I just threw one away a few weeks ago. This appears to be a twin to the range that I bought new in the fall of 1988. As John said, it has been adequate and does the basics but even with light use has had some of the weak points that he mentioned. |
