Hey guys, have a look what I found and the sellers giving it to me for free because they said I’ve been waiting so patiently

Does anybody know anything about these particular machines? I had a GE earlier that I ended up getting rid of because it kept blowing the breaker but this machine kind a looks like a higher end model And they said it was working about three weeks ago

GE and GFCI

akronman's profile picture
Not sure if this applies to your model, but I've had 2 GE's that sometimes tripped the GFCI, not the breaker, at the exact same point, when the rinse fill started. Everything else was perfect about them, and if you simply reset the GFCI, they finished the cycle perfectly and didn't trip for maybe the next 5 loads. I ended up turning one outlet into a non-GFCI and the 2 machines have run wonderfully since. Maybe when GFCI was mandated in the mid 70's, it took a few years for GE to work out a nano-second bug in their timers?? I don't know, but have had no troubles since.

Congratulations Adam!
How wonderful!!!! Very excited for you!!! I hope you have many years of excellent washing with it. It’s a superb washer, and will clean anything you throw at it.
My Mom had one like it and it was about the best she ever owned. Always loved the sound of one washing, and thought they rinsed really well, even using a high suds detergent.

Oh my, I’m excited for you guys and I still have the

Filter Pan and minibasket For my machine that I had previously, it also doesn’t make me wonder did it any point GE did they Consider about putting a band or ring Over the top of the basket opening the same way how basically every other manufacturer has built washing machines, and I’m not sure that this one is gonna have the same issue, but I think I’ll live through it, as long as it’s not super Rusty and leaking

That's a beautiful filter flo!  I've never seen on with the controls configured like this one.  Talk about total flexibility - this one has it.  And it looks to be in great shape.  Enjoy your new-to-you GE and let us know how it performs.

Will do, so my mom’s a bit apprehensive

Because the last machine that we picked up the Maytag was a dud So I’ll be wanting to ask if anybody wants it

Well it looks like a fun machine. Given that it's NIB and Free who can complain.

It is a Filter-Flo which means it's a water hog. It can use upwards of 50 gallons of water per load compared to a typical front load washer that may use around 10 gallons of water and frankly do a better job.

Given Australia's ongoing water shortage issues, this is something that may be of concern to you. If you are on a well I'm sure your pump will run several times.

Thank you, at least from what I know it’s not new in box

As the seller had said that it was running until about three weeks ago, (I think they just swapped it out for something else) And it’s completely fine that Uses up to 50 gallons of water per Wash, as I’ll have it plumbed for rainwater so no harm no foul and the water will be going out onto the garden

It looks to be in excellent condition for a filter flo.

Wow thank you, I’m glad to hear although

I do wonder about the Motor as the plug where the motor originally used to connect to it has been hardwired directly to the motor, do you think it’s been used much or not? Tomorrow I’m going to put water and power to it and see how well it washes, but from the looks of it it looks like it’s a smaller capacity model, not that I’m complaining

Slow speed

awooff's profile picture
Filter flows are best run on normal speed. Gentle wash wears the transmission.

Neat find, it’s always need to see the differences in machines that we were so used to seeing here in the US how they were modified for other countries and voltages, etc.

Looks to be in good shape although it does look like it has leaked some down over the transmission from the corrosion lines.

I think the last poster was trying to suggest that high speed is less we’re on the clutch, but it would not hurt the transmission at all. In fact, it be better to run any transmission at a slower speed for its long-term durability.

Let us know how it works. Could be fun , they may have taken the wiring disconnect block out and hardwired it because the wiring disconnect block could have failed. It might’ve failed from the leaking water on it, etc.

John.

I'd liked to have asked GE why Australian and Canadian versions of Filter-Flo's were made with cool white and blue porcelain washbaskets when most of our US GE's had the cheaper-looking speckled gray ones. Somehow the foreigners just look better made.

My sister and brother-in-law lived in Canberra for many years and loved it there. I can't wait to visit Australia.

LOL, that was actually What my very first one looked like

I still remember it’s starry speckled drum which I’ll admit actually looked kinda nice, although this one to me kinda looks like as if They took inspiration from bathroom tiles i’ll see if I can try and dig out my other filter flow basket from my original machine, and then I’ll go and see how it looks inside the machine And I have tested out the spot scrub function, and it seems like it’s got really good agitation as it produced a huge amount of foam Although it was quite a bit cumbersome to get in as I had to dig out where I had the connections for hot and cold, as well as extending the drain hose and it does look like the previous people who owned it put Australian standard hoses on it so they might of ruined the threads on the solenoid, but there are no leaks coming from it, so I’ll leave them alone and I’ll keep the spare hoses, because they’re kind of hard to come by, And on Saturday I’ll be moving some things around so that way I can have my European machines right next to it for a size of scale, the great joys of Australia is that we can get both European equipment as we electrically align with them, and American equipment with proximity and socio-economic standards

Although I have noticed that I have been running it and there’s always a little flakes of yellow stuff coming off and they get deposited into the filter flow basket so I’m not sure where they’re coming from, I did notice it on the edge of where the drain hose connects through the little adapter so I’m not sure as to what causes it but it seems to be coming off with hot washes I might have to buy a box of washing machine cleaner (the tide brand because I don’t really trust anything here, (Mainly the liquid stuff by brands like dettol and Bam! I although I do know that there is Percarbonate soda I darken easily buy in large packets from the Korean store in the city if worse comes to worse

Oh and there’s a video on what one guy did to clean his machine using percarbonate soda
