HI everyone,  I have a Speed Queen wringer washer.  I took off the bottom of the drain section under the washer to see if I had a problem with the pump.  I didn't to that correctly so the rubber gasket that went between the bottom part of the drain and the top part of the drain housing is gone. What can I do to rectify this mistake?
I can't use the machine because it leaks now.  This was an error on my part so could I use JB weld to fill in the gap where the rubber gasket went?  There is a hand screw at the bottom of this with a clamp that would tighten it?  Thanks,

I would like to wash in this but can't because of my error.

Would gasket maker or sealant work?

By "gone" how bad is the current pump gasket? Is it in decent enough shape a 3-D copy or some other method could reproduce?

One way to do it is open up the pump and make a template of the outside edges. Go to the auto parts store or hobby shop and get a sheet of cork. Using a small knife, cut out a piece of cork matching the template and you have a new gasket.

Or just shmear on some high-temp liquid gasket and stick it back together, careful not to block the impeller!

Cork!

Totally forgot about that wonderful miracle stuff.

So many gaskets for pumps back in day and perhaps still for all one knows are made from cork.

Gyrafoam's response is spot on. Would add try to find cork of same thickness as original gasket.

Gyrafoam beat me to it! I've used cork a couple of times to seal a pump and it always worted. Good luck and please post pics!
