Noticed the lower rack in our newer kitchenaid has already started to rust out in a few places. Want to see if theres anything I can do to stop this before it gets worse. Would the warranty cover new racks?

Thank you.

Would not hurt to try…

Submit for warranty. Google has a couple of hits for rust mitigation, but you’d have to know what the rack are made of. I’d do the warranty route.

How old is the dishwasher and what’s the model number?

Many models carry a five year warranty on the racks. If you’re under that they will send you new racks free of charge you would be liable for any labor if you can’t change it yourself after one year.

Note: if you’re pre-rinsing your dishes, and using excessively long cycles, and too much detergent, it will contribute to rack rusting prematurely.

John.
