This is my 2017 Speed Queen Washer. Is this the way they are supposed to sound? I do not know if it is louder than when I got it. Thanks, Martin

I second what John said. It’s working great. I have a 2017 model and that is what mine sounds like. I’ve been working it decently hard (1-2 loads a day) for 5 years straight and it sounded like that from day 1 and still sounds that way on day 1,800. Nice machine!

Thanks

Thanks John and John. I enjoy the sounds.

That’s quite a racket! Glad I have the SQ TR5003 which is located on a main floor laundry room. My old school Maytag top load made quite a racket as well. I can now do laundry anytime of the day without the disturbing noise ruining the vibe in the home.

Speed Queen Sounds

It sounds okay to me. Just a little bit of vibration from the cabinet but a lot of wash action. That's what I'd expect.

Water doesn’t seem to be moving around much. Looks like the action of a soup spoon.

Looks like the agitator & drum are tilted right more than usual, whip out your bubble gauge and see if it's level.

Rears are self-leveling, just tilt it forward and you'll hear the legs drop and then tilt it back onto the ground gently.

Fronts are manually adjusted after the rears have been leveled.

The machine is level.  The tub may skew like that during agitation, some specimens exhibit the phenomenon more than others.  SQ doesn't consider it to be a problem.

I hear a slight vibration in the cabinet but otherwise the machine sounds normal to me.

I'm not sure why people think these washers are noisy. I'd take the splash and hum of this machine over the clicks, clacks, snaps, pops, and dying reversing motor of a modern VMW any day.

the disturbing noise ruining the vibe

Say what?

The "noise" from a vintage TL Maytag washer IS the vibe..

Personally, I prefer to hear the appliances, boiler, circulator pumps and such running in the house. If there is a problem I can tell right away if something doesn't sound right.

washer noise

I'd rather hear the noises of the Speed Queen Laundry washer running with motor hums, transmission whirring, and water splashing. It sets the vibe to me.

You forgot the lights dimming when the motor starts. Nothing beats the simplicity of a start across the line induction motor.
