Hi guys,

I have two doubles in my collection and thought I’d give this forum a go…

1970 GE Automatic Top Loader

1949 Bendix Automatic Front Loader

If you have a double up I’d be interested in seeing if a swap might be if interest to other collectors

Would love to, but ...

I'm in Melbourne too, Charlie, but I don't have room for a washing machine collection. I'd love to see your machines at some point if you're open to having somebody admire them all. A little wash-in-down-under perhaps ...

Cheers,

Nick

@aussie-plugs

Hi! Yes happy for you to see machine’s sometime. I only started collecting a few years ago. I want a Simpson flyid drive or old whirlpool from the 60s. ideally. It’ll take some years but if nothing, they do very occasionally come up on eBay

Where in Melbourne are you based?

What does the inside of the GE look like?

I technically have doubles, but one is an American GE and one is a Japanese GE, Would love the Bendix, but I don’t have a place to bolt it down Plus I’ve got two other bolt down machines

Hi Charlie, how’re you doing? The bendix looks lovely, but the taps caught my eye, where did you get American style taps like that in Australia, I’ve never quite seen anything like that here?

Cheers

Nathan

I'm in the South-East ...

Hi Charlie,

I'm in Malvern East, over near Chadstone. I don't know if there's anybody else in the Melbourne area who might also be interested in seeing your collection.

Cheers,

Nick

@Brisnat81

Ah! Well spotted! I used an image from the internet on the day… I couldn’t remember where I put pics of mine which I have up for grabs/swap.. I found one here. It’s in my storage facility.

All restored a few years ago just before I found my second one.

I’m wanting something different to add to my collection and seeking someone who wants the same scenario. Can send by courier easily to anywhere in Australia.

Cheers!

Your collection sounds interesting. What vintage are they? I’m looking for a 1950s or 60s model.

The Japanese machine I think it’s probably from the late 70s

Well the American machine is probably from 1985, unfortunately with the Japanese machine I’ve had to retrofit a pump onto there as the original one was leaking quite badly, so that’s kind of zip tied through the original bolt holes,

I do have a 1955 Naco machine which is a boltdown , But that one also has a bit of a leak from the weep hole, I’m not exactly sure why or how, but the machine is fully working thankfully, and I have a potentially 1930s or 40s timesaver branded machine, that one has a built-in heater and the temperature control works by setting it to the temperature that’s needed, and pushing in the white button then when it reaches that temperature it releases the white button and starts the motor And it seems like there is also a leak from the door seal a little bit and the drain tap [ for buckets of hot water on the front]
