I had a service call yesterday on this hot point washer. Customer said it was leaking water. She knew it was old. She said it was in the house when they bought it in 1997.

Turned out the outer tub had a hole rusted in it, I told her it would cost her $.25 to fix, she agreed and I proceeded to make the repair.

Haven’t worked on it Filter Flow style, GE washer in many years and you can see what a nasty mess it was with the oil leaking everywhere from the transmission. I’m glad we don’t have to work messy things often anymore.

I remember an old GE service man that I knew and he always complained you either cut your hands an fingers or got oily or dirty GE also used this nasty black tape on the wiring harness is that left black goo all over your fingers when you touched it, lol

I’m sure they appreciated an honest service man. Anyone else would’ve condemned the washer. Thanks for documenting your 25 cent repair.

And wow, that’s really a bottom of the line machine! No hot wash option…

Hot wash = manual process of Warm with the cold supply turned off, although rinse presumably is cold so it must be turned back on after the wash fill.

Does this even have the rim-flo feature?

I used a jumper wire on my old BOL GE Filter Flo so you controlled the water temps at the faucet for both wash and rinse. Mine had just hot and warm wash on the dial, no cold.

John,
That was very kind of you to save this old washer for your customer so she could avoid the high cost to replace it. I’m sure she appreciated your expertise and kindness very much. And I’ll bet it put a smile on your face too being able to make her day. Mazel!

Eddie

GE/hotpoint

Those were the best washers ever from them, hands down.
