Was a nice crisp night so decided to take the scenic route when walking home.

Turned a corner and what did my little eyes spy? A Hotpoint dryer and GE front loader.

GE washer was model #WCVH4800KWW, not sure of model # for Hotpoint dryer.

As one has simply no more room for another front loader wasn't even tempted to bring GE washer home. Dryer was a standard full size model so that definitely was O-W-T, out.

Continued walking along when not even halfway down street was another dryer. This time a WP compact/portable 120v unit. Now that is something more up one's street. If already didn't have a vintage model of same.....

This was WP dryer: londonon.craigslist.org/app/d/lo...

Unlike my much older compact WP dryer in Harvest Gold which only has timed dry cycles this one has both sensor and timed drying. WP took some of the money out of these dryers by time it was produced. When opened door to peek inside could see white paint along inner rim of dryer tub had worn away exposing metal underneath.
My WP dryer is far older and paint both inside and out looks showroom new.

Since already have one WP compact dryer and the Lavamat condenser this unit also wasn't going to follow one home either. One did however reach into drum and nab lint filter (WP has kept this same basic kidney shaped inner drum mounted filter for ages) as one can never have too many. Also went behind and took vent hose off as well. Again one can never have too many....

Given propensity for households in my area for rubbishing perfectly good appliances would put odds on both washer and dryers still worked. Unlike usual none of the electrical cords were cut (surprise, surprise) doors taken off or in any way were appliances sabotaged to keep someone from getting a bargain.

So that's me for you. Have no doubt scrappers or someone will get to one or all of those appliances before collection time Friday morning.

Glad you were able to get a few spare parts from your street-finds, Launderess. Sounds like your vintage WP compact dryer is in good condition for its age, especially compared to the one you found on your walk.

You really cannot go wrong with these WP/Kenmore/Lady Kenmore portable dryers. At least ones of old were built to last.

From what one read online about one didn't take they're still pretty solid. Paint rubbing off inside drum aside.
