Wowie kazowee indeed. But 1961???

But it has 1962 black and SS panel color and, as always, Solid Tub chrome control knobs. If it's truly in working order, this is indeed a rare beauty. I recall a lot of my classmates in high school lived with one of these in NYC apartments. By the early Seventies, all of them were out of commission but because they were built into kitchens, they were left there either because their owners didn't want to purchase another unreliable machine or dealing with the wiring and special plumbing was just too much to deal with and too expensive.

I tried to work out a sale with this person. She was extremely rude and insulting. I'm done with her. I hope one of you has better luck!

Ken,

I agree that this one is a WD-860.  The 1961 was a WD-860V, the WD-860W was offered in both 1962 and 1963.  Visually, it's identical to the WD-860Y, which was offered in 1964 and 1965.  I guess GE figured "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

Right next to the filthy toilet and in a filthy room. The floor tells the story. Hate to think what's growing on the side of it.
Must not really want to sell it or they would have cleaned it up a bit, at least.
If the pump has leaky seals the manual say's "replace the pump. It CANNOT be repaired".

Yup!

Lawrence, they did come out with a 63 model later that year for some strange GE reason. Earlier 63 brochures indeed listed the WD860 W.

Does anybody have any pictures/literature on GE Washer/Dryers for the years 64, 65, 66? I've seen them from 67 on into the 70's but nothing from the mid 60's.

The 1964 and 1965 Sweets insert both shows the WA-860Y.  The 1966 Sweets insert does not reference a model number; however, the illustration is identical to the 'Y' of the previous 2 years.

I've only known one person to own a GE combo, and that is my next-street-over neighbor, Jane. It was installed when the house was built in '70 or '71. It was essentially similar to the one shown, except had a round window, and top and control panel matched the other GE laundry equipment of that time. It was Harvest Gold. It stopped working several years ago, but it may still be in the house. She is in poor health, and may not be staying there too much longer. I will try to find out if she still has it.

Here are the photos from the Sweets inserts for 1964, 1965 and 1966, in that order.  I apologize for the photo quality.
