Hi there,
I sold my A106 Maytag harvest gold W/D to my SIL, and the black drain hose apparently broke during transport, does anyone know how we can fix this? Signed, A clueless nurse

Your local hardware store likely has a generic washing machine drain hose kit that will fit this machine. Changing the hose is a very simple process. Simply remove the front panel by removing the two screws at the bottom, and tilting it to about a 45 degree angle to disengage the spring clips at the top. The drain hose is directly connected to the outlet of the pump, which is in the front right corner of the machine. There should be a tower clamp holding the hose to the outlet. Remove this clamp, and pry the hose off of the pump. Install the new hose, and re-install the clamp. Before you put the front back on, I would advise running the washer to ensure that the clamp is tight enough to prevent a leak. When I got my 1978 Maytag washer, it had a generic kit installed on it, which was working fine. The only reason I replaced it was because I wanted a hose that was thicker and more original-looking. I've included a link to a kit that looks exactly like what I had on that machine. The end of the hose has a tapered piece of rubber, and you will need to cut it down to the correct size for the pump (1 inch ID IIRC).
