I look at that timer and see that auto dry is for Peppermint Press but regular dry is only timed. Such a reversal of late 50s WP-made dryers where Wash'n Wear was timed so that the load could be pulled out when the cool down was almost done and not sit and wrinkle, but regular fabrics had time-temp auto dry. That brown dryer for $50 had the same arrangement. It must have to do with cheapness or cheapmess.
