Good morning everybody. What are your biggest pet peeves with dishwashers? The biggest pet peeve I have is when people constantly pre-wash their dishes before putting them in. Too many people baby their dishwashers when doing that. Most are just too stupid to realize that they're doing a disservice and in turn, ruining their racks and their machines, not to mention their dishes at large. I have VERY STRICT no pre-rinse policy in my apartment.
What are yours? Please discuss. I'm currently using Cascade products, but will be trying Finish products, and maybe alternate every month between the 2 as a sidenote. Back to the subject. But to tie that sidenote in, I don't pre-rinse with either, and I will refuse to do so. I don't want a ruined dishwasher which is really nice for an apartment.

Jerome, Its none of your business how people use their dishwasher and I resent you calling me stupid because I do run them under the faucet before loading and your mith about damaging racks is bonkers. My nearly 30 year old Whirlpool's racks are still perfect. So quit calling people stupid because they do not follow your rules.

rusted racks

I have seen rusted racks due to pre-rinsing dishes constantly. Today's detergents are more harsh than ever and because of this, they need dirty dishes to work on. I've seen it at the dorms back when I went to Texas School for the Blind whenever I did dishes. Trust me, I didn't want to pre-rinse knowing that I could damage and corrode the racks due to how harsh dishwasher detergent is.
FYI, it is a dishwasher, not a dish sanitizer. I have seen tines broken off and corroded away due to pre-rinsing. This is why I leave my dishes dirty, even crusty so my racks don't rust. And dishwashers of today will misread how clean your dishes are if you continue to pre-rinse. This is another reason why I quit doing that. I don't want randomly cleaned dishes. I want the whole load washed properly. Enzymes need something constructive to do. It's like having teenagers doing something worthwhile with their time. Pre-rinse all you want, but if your racks corrode because of it, don't complain to me. Rant over! Please continue to discuss.
P.S. I call things like I see them, just like washman.

I have been doing dishes in a dishwasher twice as long as you have been alive and you are certainly not the expert on everything you believe you are. I will do it my way and I have never ruined a dishwasher by not following YOUR strict rules.
