Hi there,

I am trying to get this machine ready to sell (as I have 2 already). Unfortunately, it has developed an issue with spin. For some reason it won't high spin. I know it's not the transmission because that's brand new (the old one also did the same thing). I just replaced the clutch today and same thing. I'm thinking it may be a bad speed switch or the motor which is original has gone bad.

It is noted that during testing, I had the machine plugged into 2 brand new orange extension cords. I noticed where the back plug that comes out of the control panel was hot, so I immediately unplugged it and called it a day.

Below is a video. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Two extension cords (what total length?) are a nope.  Move the machine accordingly and try it directly into a receptacle.

Extension Cords

About 100 feet. Unfortunately I don't have an outlet outside where I could test. Did this cause any long-term damage to the machine? I hope not.

If you're using an extension cord that long, you will need an industrial cord with #10 wire - rather expensive (100$+). Those orange cords are usually #16.

So does the machine basically not pull enough power? I just need to ensure nothing is wrong with it outside of this.

Wow, that's a strange sound that I've never heard before, kind of like the motor is winding up gradually and struggling to stay there. You say it's done this on both transmissions, old and new? Are all other speed selections ok or do they all sound like that? Which machine is this, the ultra fabric care or one of your elites?

No washer likes an extension cord but 100 foot of 16 gauge extension cord isn’t going to work at all. The voltage drop is too great. The good news is it didn’t hurt the machine. That’s what motor overload protectors are for.

This is my 2002 Kenmore I got last summer, not the almond one I currently have in use.

Thank you for the clarification, Melvin.
