Update, this time last year I did a post thread : 91993 12/3/2022 concerning the GE DW that came with the house we had just bought.

Recently we were again having intermittent problems with noise as if there wasn’t enough water in it. Went into GE web site looking for clues. I noticed the removable filter pic on their web site had an extra REMOVEABLE piece in the filter that was missing in ours. I ordered a new complete filter assembly for $25.00. Installed it yesterday . Washed a load of dishes and the noise is gone! I’ve included a link of the new filter. It probably was left out either during installation or at the factory.

Such is life with appliances in the 2000’s!

Happy holidays!!!

Hi David , glad you figured this out and your machine is running better, are you saying that entire filter assembly pictured was missing on your dishwasher?

If that filter is not in place, you’ll quickly clog your washrooms up with food particles and possibly damage either the drain or the circulating pump The main circulating pump may be somewhat clogged if it was run without that filter even twice.

Filter assembly

John, the filter for this DW is in 2 pieces. The outer screened part of the filter was in the dishwasher. However the middle part that has “locked and unlocked” on the bottom was missing. Without the middle part of the filter I think it was pulling in water mixed with a lot of air making it sound like it didn’t have enough water to circulate.

I was afraid of it stopping up also!

Thanks for the reply!

Peace and blessing!
