My trans is like the one in the pic. anyone have one that I can buy (that doesn't leak, of course)

I am terrified of losing this machine. (the twins are in the pic,)

You’re facing a big repair

You may be able to find a good used transmission. You could also upgrade to the new orbital transmission you have many options just depends what you wanna do.

The easiest thing to do is to write a check for $1300 for a new Speed Queen TC five you’ll have a machine of greater capacity and better performance that will last at least 25 years.

Because of the relatively tight space you could also upgrade to a front load washer I would get the GE 24 inch front loader. It will do a larger load than your Maytag and use only 1/4 of the water it will allow you to wash things I could queen size comforter, that would be a stretch for the current Maytag

If you want to go into rebuilding the Maytag, there’s lots of help here as on the site your machine will likely be out of service for a month or two while you do it unless you have a lot of time to work on it and can round up everything you need ahead of time .

This afternoon I’m pulling alMaytag A712out of service. The damper assembly has failed in a big way. We put a new orbital transmission kit in it about seven years ago. They got some more use out of the washer but it’s time to let it go. we’re replacing it with a full sized general electric front load washer. I will part out the A712 and take the transmission out. Maybe you can save another Maytag for someone willing to invest the work and money.

John
