I got to cross one off the list that I didn’t think was going to be possible. I just happened to look at a Facebook page one day when someone posted this set that they ran across on Facebook. I immediately contacted the owner and he agreed to hold them for me to ship. He pulled them out of a house he was remodeling and was originally just going to haul them off. He told me they were working but I can’t get the timer to turn on the washer. There are some cosmetic blemishes but for their age they are in good condition. One of the washer solenoids has 8-66 as it’s date. I was excited when Ben got his set and never believed I would be able to get the same thing. Here are the preliminary pictures as they came off of the truck.

Wow fantastic! Disappointing news about the timer though — I hope you can get that working without too much trouble.
I was just looking at what appears to be the bleach injection mechanism in photo 14. I’d be interested to know how this works and at what point in the cycle the bleach goes in. Lovely set. I like the washer’s simple and flexible controls. Enjoy! Mark |

Mind you, when I opened this thread I had just woken up. When I saw the set aligned outside with the cart on the side, I thought - oh hey it's my SQ set! LOL. Funny that we both have the same appliance cart.
Congrats, Melvin! This is a wonderful set and I can't think of a better collector to have saved them. They look to be in really nice shape. The washer top doesn't appear to have any major rust issues, and it doesn't look like anyone ever used the bleach dispenser for it's intended purpose. The injector pump looks perfect and there is no rust below the pump on the frame. Lucky guy! As always, my door is open if you have any questions as you start to dive into them. My family has been using the dryer as a daily driver since I finished it, and I really, really enjoy using it. You may need to add a few dabs of a light oil to the timer shaft on the mounting side. I think you can take the timer dial off to get access to the front side. Hopefully that's all it needs so you can test out the machine. Mark - it's pretty simple, actually. The user would pour the needed bleach in the dispenser at the start of wash. About half way through the wash the timer activates the pump, also while activating an overflow. The pump will then siphon and push the bleach up from the storage tank through a tube to the fill aerator, mixing the bleach with the incoming water. Ben |

I was thinking they same thing, thought “isn’t that Ben’s Speed Queen set?” then realized they are a completely different set in a different state.
Not sure what they will need in terms of restoration work, but will have to test them out to see if they do anything. Could need a complete overhaul, or just the repairs done to the timer to get it operational again. |

A lovely set. You've got to love a washer that calls its fast agitation "brisk." |

Congratulations I always thought this was the best looking Speed Queen pair ever built. And the most durable of all the solid tub designs.
Looks like the pump seal is either leaking or maybe the pump has already been replaced, very common failure for this machine. Hopefully it will not need to much work. |

Thanks for all of the positive comments. I am definitely excited to have these. Ben I’m sure I’ll have a few questions when I get a chance to work on them. Richard I’ll keep you in mind if they ever need to be moved along. John I’m pretty sure the pump was replaced at some point as it looks like a price was written on the side of it. Lawrence I wish you and everyone a Merry Christmas.

Yay that is a beautiful find Melvin and a great rinsing machine for towels. If you can find the coin-op spin pulley for it you can increase the spin speed from 600 to over 700rpm which does make a difference. If spin acceleration pick up isn't fast enough you can add oil to the fluid drive to give it some more ummmmph.
