For all sorts of advertising, promotion and other things.
Small tape recorders weren't around in 1950's or so, but many household's had record players of all sorts. From huge console "Hi-Fi" down to portable units. Record players most certainly would have been in middle and above class homes who could afford new major appliances back then, so there you are. Clever chops in advertising and promotion likely felt it was a new and novel way of appealing to Madame. Instead of having to sit and read all that information she could listen to Betty Furness explain things in comfort of her own home. |
