The detergent cap fell into the washer while agitating. Fortunately, it only agitated for a few minutes.

It did chip the agitator in the second ring from the bottom.

The break luckily isn’t jagged but like the shape of a fingernail.

I mostly wash bath and kitchen towels and cottons in this washer.

I was thinking of using marine tape on that area to cover it.

Any ideas?

I remember we had the exact washer growing up and the filter fell in and caused really jagged edges. My grandmother I guess was afraid to tell my mom until she questioned my grandmother about holes in her slacks and blouses that she told her . Of course my mom just ordered a new agitator.

Any thoughts. I’m assuming
Ing others here have chips after 50 years???

I found it. A lizard ate the agitator not the cap.

I had a GM Frigidaire washer a few years ago that had a nicked up agitator and what I did was take sandpaper and smooth out the areas that got nicked up so there was no fabric damage when the washer was in use. You should feel around the cones and make sure there are no sharp edges and if you do find come upon one ...sand away until it is smooth. The replacement parts for these machines are getting harder to find and when you do find a part it maybe a tad pricey...
