Where in California? Wonder if it's a club member collector.

I believe Kevin took that picture years back, seller used it as a reference for the set they are selling. Usually the price is what one is willing to pay, but I am willing to bet the washer will need to be gone through since the oil in the transmission more than likely has turned into molasses at this point. Could just do a “rebuild” the lazy way and transfer the cabinet onto a later style of Maytag built from 1966 to about the mid 80’s.

The dryer which is a HOH, will need the typical cleaning and oiling done to it and install a new felt seal to prevent items like coins from shorting the heating element out. If it has the needle/roller bearings, will need to be packed with grease to keep everything running smoothly. Thermostats will definitely need to be replaced not only for safety, but to keep it running reliably and gently as well.

Based on the description this is the set that sold at auction from Montana ( Missoula I believe) about 8 months ago. Launderess posted the auction link to hibid , I remember as it was close- ish and I was tempted to bid. I think the winner paid around 250 to 500 ( stopped seriously tracking after about 300).

Some Hbid sellers are suspect. I'm not saying all are, but you have to watch them and know what one is getting into.

Seller of pink Maytag set on Hibid has chosen to "hide" lot from historical view. Thus further research via that avenue is closed.

As for original pictures for HBid auction IIRC yes, IIRC as with so *many* other instances images were lifted from AW.org or otherwise from a member. All someone has to do is search internet via Google or whatever and harvest all images they wish.

As Sean mentioned, that is Kevin's photo of his pink Maytag set that I now own, having purchased them from Kevin several years ago.

The seller must have used Kevin's photo, but the seller's other photos in the ad may well be of the set that they are selling -- they are not photos of my set.

Hi Bob.  The seller's name is shown as "ED Beck" in Los Angeles.  I don't know who they are.

Yea, Im always a little suspicious when someone buys something, has it shipped several states away and then decides to sell it so soon. Why buy it in the first place? It’s listed for more than what it sold for I bet, although the shipping across 3 states would have certainly cost time and money.

Without knowing anything about current seller am always willing to give benefit of the doubt.

Current owner may have suffered financial, health or other issues that means for various reasons selling things on... In extreme cases set may be offered for sale due to recent purchaser going to the other place.

There also comes a time for us all when eyes were larger than stomach and or we've bit off a bit more than can chew. What looked good at the time now sits largely unused and haunting us.... Have GE Mobile Maid DW that really need to move on for pretty much that reason. It looked like a good idea at the time, but now....

Persons also acquire things unbeknownst to them will need work, in cases more effort and bother than they themselves are capable of doing for various reasons.

Past several years have bought all sorts of upheavals to people's lives. Someone may find themselves having to move house (willingly or not) and some things won't be making the trip.

Keep in mind HBid does *NOT* allow bid retractions nor can winning bidders easily back out of deals. Once hammer falls one's credit card is charged for full price plus any other fees. Usually there are *NO* refunds and if one cannot collect merchandise or have it shipped (if offered) on time, tant pis; one has lost that money.

Hi Mark, how’s that Maytag set doing you bought off of Kevin several years ago? Believe he at one point had a ‘63 Maytag A700 & DE700 in white but has since gone to another collector if I remember correctly.
