Hello everyone!

I went through the process of removing the tub in my Whirlpool Cabrio to clean out the accumulated sludge. I took the tub outside to clean, and realized that there were (possibly) a couple of parts that fell out of the assembly. (see first picture)

I realize that the plastic part is probably #9 in the basket diagram (second picture).

I don't see anything similar to the second part, which is a metal washer of some sort.

Am I missing something in the basket diagram? Did I pick up some random, unrelated part off the ground?

The metal ring goes on the underside of the cam.  It's not supposed to be loose from the cam.  Perhaps you should get a new hub assembly.

In case you're not aware, the hub assembly allows the basket to float slighty upwards when water fills in to disengage from the drive so the impeller can rotate separately (the basket free-spins).  The basket settles down when the water drain to engage the drive for spin (basket and impeller rotate together).

Excellent advice!!

This is the information that I needed to correctly reinstall the drum. All appears to be in good working order now.

Thanx
