Probably GWL11 & DEGX1 (or DGGX1 if gas).

Never understood why top loading dryer didn't become more popular.

F&P wasn't first IIRC.

Top loading clothes dryers

There certainly could’ve been a market for them but FNP is the only one that I ever saw certainly any reasonable sized one at least and it’s a much more complicated thing to build and far less durable so I can see why they were not made in larger numbers does anybody know of another one?

We had a few threads about them. Here’s one.

An acquaintance of mine had a matching Euro topload set made by Brandt. He bought it around 2008 IIRC.

Brandt still sells top loading dryers and washer/dryer combo units.

Given great love of top loading washers in France this should come as no surprise.

It looks like Brandt stopped selling topload combo’s and topload dryers. See here for their actual lineup.

One stands corrected.

Wondered why that Brandt website one linked to was in English.

It looks like it’s an international website, probably neglected.

There are hardly any combo’s left on the French market, it’s amazing how fast that went.only six frontloaders left at E.Leclerc. And topload dryers are totally gone.

I've had one for awhile, and recently hooked it back up to use while I have the main laundry room under renovation.

It was free along with an ILW12 I picked up (wish I would have kept that...). Had to clean out the internal ducting and find a replacement lint filter for it (pricey!). It does squeak a bit but otherwise it is a really nice dryer. I've bypassed the lid switch so it can be observed while operating.

I believe Glenn has one, as well.

I have four.  Three SmartLoad specimens, one an AeroSmart, although they're all the same below the control panel.  Two in daily use, mine and the one mom is using.  Two spares that haven't been run or disassembled for examination.

Squeaking is usually either the belt idlers or the drum bearing.  A creaking noise may also occur which may indicate the bearing has a fracture.

There's not much to watch during operation other than the drum rotating, reversing.  Mangled fingers are a danger so Hands Off!  No way to see the clothes tumbling unless a wireless camera is somehow rigged.
