Oooh that is lovely! I'd love to get it, but...

It's a bit too far from me, otherwise I'd be on it in a flash.

I'm probably the closest member of this website group, but it's till a very long distance to travel.

It's the same model as the one we used at our wedding in 2022 - it was our document signing table and later the wedding cake cutting table.

Mine looks good but has no motor and the drum bearings are arthritic. I do have one good spare door boot though.

I thought about getting my hands on this

But considering probably most parts are unobtainium i’m not exactly sure about it,

How much would it cost roughly to ship to Vic?

Love these machines! Sadly I also think costs would be too much but if not I’d scoop it up!

Thanks Chetlaham.

We had been a couple already for 35 years when we finally married. First we needed a change in the law, then covid got in the way and caused a couple more years delay. We got there in the end...

Quite a few guests asked "so, what's with the washing machine?" but we wanted a wedding that was informal/casual, a bit quirky, and allowed us to express our unique personalities. The Keymatic fitted that perfectly.

I resprayed the Keymatic for the wedding, I had some trouble with the paint, some of it went into a weird "alligator skin" crazed texture. I had to sand it back and re-re-spray it the day (or two?) before the wedding, and final re-assembly was late at night before the big day when the paint was still slightly soft... Talk about stressful...

"Looks to be one of the earlier models."

It's one of the later models.

The early ones had a horizontal "time line" indicator to show progress through the cycle. Later ones like the one above had a circular "clock face" to show progress. The later ones also had some cheapening - plastic idler pulleys for the spin belt (it turns 90 degrees!) for example, early ones were cast iron pulleys.

Mine is a "Mark IV" and I have no idea what that means - I'd love to know what all the differences were between versions. I think the Mark IV was the last version, though I have a very vague memory of seeing a slightly later one in the Hoover showroom when I was a kid, and it had a model number something like "Hoover 440" on it, no mention of the word Keymatic. But that is a very old memory and I might be mistaken. We had a Hoover-only store in town when I grew up - Westwood Specialties Hoover it was called. I used to love going there with Mum to get bags and belts for our Hoover vacuum cleaner, always something fascinating on display.
