Hello,

I recently purchased a KDS-16. One part I’m having trouble finding is the plastic filter that the fine metal “sani-filter” attaches to when in place. The one in the machine is missing three of the four tabs and has a couple holes in it.

What is this piece properly called and where can I find a replacement. I’ve mostly looked on eBay and a few parts sites but didn’t see anything.

Thanks for your help.

Filter for a KDS 16 dishwasher

Hi Michael, this dishwasher has an all stainless steel filter but there is a plastic ring at the bottom. I guess that’s what you’re talking about a picture would confirm the little tabs would break off of that ring that doesn’t hurt anything, I probably have some of those around, but it really doesn’t affect it unless it’s in really bad shape.

When you’re searching for a filter assembly, you can also look for a KDS 17 it’s the same filter assembly, the less expensive non S models had a plastic filter, which is not the proper filter for the TOL models.

Post a picture or let me know

John

Here is the ring.

What are the metal tabs for on the inside of the fine metal filter?

The metal clips inside the stainless steel mesh filter, hold it down, they clip over the wash arm support.

The lower filter you pictured is the pump guard to keep pieces of glass and foreign objects out of the drain pump. The one you have is just fine. It originally had little tabs on it so when you pull the stainless steel filter out that lower ring came with it but it doesn’t matter if it comes out separately just keep it in place when you use the dishwasher both of them that is.

Metal tabs

The metal tabs on the inside of the filter are to keep it in place on the wash arm support.  They are spring loaded.
