Upgraded from the WM4370HKA and DLEX4370K washer/dryer to the new WM6998HKA and DLGX4001 (changed to gas dryer. My previous set was nearing it's last life... I've replaced the pump 4x and they were slightly too large because of the way the doors opened in my laundry closet). Unfortunately the "fancier" dryer was on backorder in the black so I stepped down a level. Doesn't really bother me. I just couldn't give up a separate dryer and I'd rather watch grass grow than wait 2 hours or more for an entire cycle.

So far so good! The new WM6998 I've over-dosed detergent in already so I think I'll be sticking to the automatic dispenser. Also the washer seems almost 20 minutes faster in the normal cycle, and with AI wash.

Also, I purchased through Home Depot. Installation team would NOT put them on my existing pedestals. They said it was a liability issue, so beware.

I'll keep you posted!

Very smart setup with the combo and dryer separate.

Had to double take though - red the model numbers and thought "Isn't that the new combo".
Then I saw the pic with the tell tale filter on top.

"Matching Dryer" for the set and heat pump technolog

kacyc1's profile picture
The matching dryer for this series is DLGX6701B. They are out of stock/backordered in black. To me the fancy part here is the washer.

As far as heat pump technology, I would have bought the thin twin with a heat pump had I not had pedastals already. This new set fits fine on my mini (Twin wash), and I really don't know that heat pump is "there" yet, so I purchased the additional 5 year warranty through Home Depot (based upon the youtube videos) and the dryer. I'm sure I will use the all in one as I break my older laundry habits. Also, I'm very interested in heat pumps as I live in CA and electricity with the fires in my area is top $. I didn't like the GE in that it didn't match my current setup..

The matching Mini Wash and drawer right now are an additional ~$900 altogether with deliver for the more square faced. Drawer is WDP6B (again, dryer is a step down so this is the "more fancy"). The Mini is WD300CB. Another HUGE expense. The color on the drawers doesn't match, but I don't care.

Happy Laundering! Show me your LGs!

Thank you for the full explanation. I wasn't going to asasume the DL6701 woould be the match, but... I don't have pics of my washer & dryer, but I got them in 2021, 3 months apart. It's WM4200 and DLEX4200, white.

If you're using Persil, I find it oversuds very easily. I haven't used it in years because of that problem.

The nice thing is you can put in a load before going to bed and it will be all ready when you wake up.

Sorry you ended up going through so many pumps with your old washer. How many loads a week do you do?

And congratulations on the new laundry play toys!!

New LG washer and gas dryer

Congratulations hopefully you’ll like them. Hopefully you’ll save money on operating the dryer.

LG’s are known for pump problems. That seems to be one of their more common problems, and like any front load washer. They have lots of boot problems and other hose problems, along with lots of other things Samsung is even worse.

Did you end up reusing the pedestals, if you’re clever, you can both the pedestals from the old machines onto almost any new machine you just have to make adjustment you might even have to drill a few holes etc. but we do it all the time the pedestals are fairly expensive and it’s a shame to throw them away.

There’s about six Speed Queen washers in our service area that are on top of the pedestals from the whirlpool duet that Speed Queen replaced, in all cases, the whirlpool dryer is still on the pedestal next to the new Speed Queen washer.

If you’re looking for top reliability in long life, there’s only one full size machine out there and that Speed Queen, it is quite expensive.

But there’s nothing magical about LG whirlpool, Electrolux, GE, etc. they’re all about the same when it comes to reliability, you’ll get anywhere from 5 to 20 years of any of those machines Depending on how much you use them before you need another washer.

If you want a machine that should last you 20 to 40 years the Speed Queen front lot is the best you’re gonna do.
