What's the mental damage that leads so many washer sellers to omit a photo of the interior?
I was thinking the exact same thing Glenn, for all we know the agitator is missing and there are big chips of porcelain in the tub. It would be like selling a car and only showing exterior pictures without any interior pictures because the steering wheel is gone. |

“It would be like selling a car and only showing exterior pictures without any interior pictures because the steering wheel is gone”
I know all that too well. Back in October of 2022, looked at a ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500 that looked to be in reasonable shape, they did show photos of the interior, exterior etc. Anyways looked at the car in person, had potential but the biggest turn off was the seller didn’t offer to start it, didn’t have the keys (though cars of that era car be easily hot wired, but even so), rear doors were essentially stuck shut (was a past sedan model), wasn’t willing to negotiate and just ended up passing up on it all together. Looked at several others since then. Sometimes, people just don’t look into the details or anything for that matter. Pictures inside and out along with running (or driving if it’s a car) is how you can make a sale along with being able to negotiate on a price. Sometimes, sellers are just in a completely different world at times it seems. |

There's definitely some con artists out there but some don't know what they have or how to properly photoshoot it.
I found my 906 washer by a craigslist ad with no photos. I emailed them back and asked it if had a row of ivory buttons down the center of the console. The lady replied, yes and that the machine looked very old so I should be cautious. At that moment, i knew I had the correct washer. I called in sick to work (hey, it's a free 906 washer and I had 10 sick days) and drove to retrieve it. It was a very young couple with a child that just moved into the apartment in downtown San Francisco. They had no idea how to work the washer nor the 1920's gas range it was sitting next to. Some people just aren't aware of what they have. |

"Not everyone collects old washers. They probably think people are only interested in the outside. If someone truly wants it, they can ask for an interior shot."
True, but OTOH seller isn't exactly giving this machine away either. They know what they've got to a point, that seems clear. Otherwise price would be in two digit numbers IMHO. |

Besides wondering, "Where are the interior photo(s)?", this machine reminds me of the one my mom had when I was 2-3 years old. It wasn't a Whirlpool, but she let me turn a handle to wring the water out of each garment, sox, or whatever.
I love that clean looking machine - especially the LABEL! But these aren't my interest, though it's a good looker. |
