Notice the small diameter heating element. In the original Mobile Maids, that was not under the rack because plates were racked around the perimeter of the tank. With this machine, they could be positioned over the heating element and in the sixties and early seventies, Melamine plates and saucers would char on the edges during the dry phase of the cycle. Fortunately, Corning came out with Corelle dishes about this time which gained popularity over Melamie dishes since they were not destroyed by the serrated knife edges popular with the manufacturers of stainless steel flatware and they did not stain.

Top-of-the-line GE Mobile Maid Dishwasher

This is probably around 65 or six machine. This was GE‘s first wash charmed design and I don’t know how they came up with such a miserable cleaning machine, whirlpool KitchenAid Westinghouse wash arm dishwashers all did far better than these

We were giving away one of these top-of-the-line ones excepted was white with the wood top. Jason tried to use it for a while with his house when he didn’t have a dishwasher before the new kitchen went in, and there was just nothing we could do to make that thing clean finally brought it back to the warehouse because it was worse than washing dishes by hand. It wasn’t a good design, unless you rinsed everything off first.

Unless the seller sells it to someone else, I'm going over on Wednesday to purchase it. I offered him $100 for it and he accepted it.

Be that as it may, when you have a low quality pump that leaves something like a quart of water in the pump chamber after each drain and no filter, it does not matter how many doodad wash arms you put on a dishwasher. In later years, GE put a second pump on a couple of dishwashers that kicked in after a couple of the drain periods to empty all of the shit floating in the pump chamber after the terrible pump could no longer move water out of the pump.

Have no issues with my GE Mobile Maid cleaning wise, it gets job done well enough.

Thing isn't long for this world since it scratches and marks up certain glass and china ware something awful. Things one owned for years that were not harmed in Frigidaire (badged Sears) portable dishwasher have been reduced to marked, etched and otherwise damaged mess.

If cannot sell thing on it's going somewhere, one needs the space.

Use and enjoy your new machine in good health. One piece of advice: set the Silverware basket that came with the machine aside and use a conventionally designed GE silverware basket that has an open weave mesh on all sides. Silver Shower or not, you'll get better cleaning results for your knives, forks and spoons.

love these dishwashers!

i've got 3 that run, 2 or 3 more with pumps removed.

when i was a teen i used to look at them in the stores and marvel at that huge wash arm with those big water jets, wondering how the pump could spray that much water.

i use mine semi regularily and if the stuff doesn't come out clean i run it again. usually mine do come clean with one cycle but i do prerinse. i wish i could go get more of these when i see em on marketplace but i no longer have a car that will hold dishwashers in it's trunk.

they are noisy as hell! but that's the fun of using it! no insulation at all, sounds like a groaning lawnmower when washing.

hey combo, if you see this are there any pump seals around anywhere? i see the one part on e bay now and then, but the matching 2nd. half of the seal i have never found. i have one original seal set left that i bought from larry at modern parts about 12 years ago. any info would be appreciated.

enjoy your new dishwasher!!!
