About 4.5 years ago (November 2019), I put all my appliances in storage. My now ex and I had sold our house and moved into our motorhome. In April of 2021, we separated and I moved into an apartment. In May of 2022, I moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Austin, Minnesota and bought a house. The appliances stayed in Arizona. After having paid for storage on them for over 4 years, most recent was $320 a month, I now finally have them all with me in Minnesota. Currently in the garage, but will be moved to the basement.
Originally, I was going to rent a uhaul truck and drive it from Phoenix to Minnesota, but the rental alone was $3,000. That doesn't include gas. So I changed my plan. I drove my truck from Minnesota to Arizona. My grandfather had a 6x12 flatbed trailer, he gave to my dad. The trailer was in Arizona and needed to be taken to Minnesota. I picked up that trailer and loaded it up with about 10 washers and dryers, threw stuff in my truck and drove to Minnesota. Got home and unloaded it into the garage. Next day, I got a 6x12 enclosed uhaul trailer and hauled it to Arizona, while my dad followed me in his truck, hauling theorem trailer. Got to Arizona and loaded up everything onto the two trailers and headed home. Did all that in 2 weeks. The first picture is of my house I bought. The second picture is of the larger garage. The black Thunderbird got moved to the single stall garage and my appliances are currently in that spot. The third and fourth pictures are of the appliances in storage, shortly after I put them there, in 2019. The fifth and sixth pictures are of the same storage unit, when I began to unload it in March of this year. The seventh, eighth, and ninth picture are of the first trailer load full. The tenth and eleventh pictures are of the second load on the flatbed trailer. The twelfth picture is of the load in enclosed trailer. I did add more to the trailer, it was fully loaded. But it was stuff my grandfather was giving to me and or my dad, that was coming back to Minnesota too. The plan is to get them all down into the basement, where I can use them, display them and work on them. |

Couple of other things to add.
I was able to get about 98% of the stuff out of the storage. The few things I didn't take were, I did let go of a couple of newer CRT Tvs that I offered for free on Facebook Marketplace. I also left in the storage unit, two console tvs, that I literally could not fit onto the trailers or trucks. On both trips, I had people come up to me and loved the appliances they saw on the trailer. The compliments were amazing. I only had 1 minor booboo that happened. On the Turquoise Maytag pushbutton dryer, I thought I had it protected enough, but apparently I didn't. It now has a rub mark, about the size of a quarter, through the paint on it's front, on what was an almost perfect cabinet. :( |

Yay Justin glad you got all your stuff moved to Minnesota, the move Should’ve been a little bit easier moving all that metal north because the magnetic pull of the north pole, lol
I vowed years ago I would never pay rent for storage anymore. It just gets to be a very costly thing, and the climate is so much better in Minnesota than Arizona especially with the way the weather is changing. Look forward to seeing the progress as you start working on things again, John |

Glad to hear you got everything back home. That's a nice looking house. The recessed porch on the top floor is interesting. Is it big enough to accommodate chairs, or perhaps a bed? |

True, but the dry southwestern climate preserves things since there’s not much humidity, only corrosion is surface rust and that’s about it. Don’t see myself living where it snows, too cold to do anything outside in the winter months. |

Unimatic1140, I've had that since 2017? I believe. It came from my ex's aunt's house in the Spokane, WA area. I have the frontload version, although a bit rusty, and will be getting the dryer next week.
combo52, I am so glad too. It is nice to have everything with me now. I had that same vow, but when we sold the house in Buckeye, I didn't have much choice. I can't believe I paid for storage for 4 years. UGH!! I know you have family here in Minnesota, you should come and visit, next time you are in the area. I'm about 1.5 hours south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. CircleW, It is kind of cool. No room for chairs or a bed. It is about 2.5 feet by maybe 5 feet. And I have to crawl out the window to get out there. qsd-dan, I'm not beating myself up over it. Just thought I'd mention it. Usually with a big move such as mine, there are bound to be mishaps. I was lucky, I only had this minor one. Stan, No just 1. |

Hi there Justin!
I really enjoyed reading your post, so much so that I re-read it a second time. I am sorry about the sad parts, but am really happy for you that you got almost everything re-assembled in your own home. You must have a huge sense of accomplishment. I wish you luck and enjoyment in using/tinkering/restoring your awesome machines. Thanks for sharing with us! Gordon |

Wow, what Pumper said , and a Herculean effort by any measure. Little wonder people stopped and stared with all that vintage turquoise and pink porcelain and gleaming chrome. Loved especially, seeing the Easy Spin, the wringers, and the round tub Kenmore automatic not to mention the all bongo combos--Holy Fudge! |
