DADDOES, you beat me there, Brastemp I believe is made by Whirlpool and I think in Basil, once in a while a washer that’s made by shows up as our pic of the day…

'Suaves' cycle

From the BD era, the 'SUAVES' (Permanent Press) cycle ran with low agitation and high spin with no cool-down.

Multibras S.A. Eletrodomesticos made and sold appliances under Consul, Brastemp, and Whirlpool names.

pages.cs.wisc.edu/~anhai/wisc-si...

In 2000, WP acquired Brazilian appliance maker Multibrás, owner of the brands Brastemp and Consul, including its stake in Embraco.

Staring about 1980's and well into 2000's WP went on a buying and expansion binge.

Inglis (Canada)

Philips N.V.

Bauknecht (Germany)

Kelvinator (India)

Having previously purchased majority stake in Embraco WP followed up by getting their their greedy mitts on number one appliance maker in Brazil, Multibrás.

As for differences in WP/Brastemp washer models compared to USA it comes down to local consumer preferences and so forth.

Brazilians seem to still overwhelmingly favor top loading washing machines. Thus WP must find ways to keep that format but also deliver on energy savings, innovation and performance.

Can't tell you about their appliances, but love old Brastemp adverts.

New Fangled Brazilian Top loader??

Looks like we have an Antipodean rip-off of the old, doomed Hotpoint Duo-Load.

I want it.
