Hey just checking on here to see if anybody might have one of these vintage 1980s tide laundry Detergent jugs for sale. I’m creating a vintage laundry room and thought it would be fun to get period Appropriate containers for my fabric softener and laundry detergent. I’ve been constantly checking eBay for quite a while now but can’t find anything but the powder detergent. So I thought I would check on here. Thanks for any input. I’ve also listed a picture of what I’m looking for.

Good luck with your search, Jason. A detergent jug of that vintage has to pop up sooner or later. The jug shown reminds me a bit of the cars of the early 1980s: more angular than, say, vehicles of the 2000s. Today’s detergent jugs are more softly contoured.

Thank you. Yeah I have a Downey jug. There always seems to be those available. I will continue my search until I find one. Also have a cascade jug.

Don't you just know that somewhere in some random house in the USA in someones basement who perhaps used to be a hoarder back then (my aunt kind of was like this) has probably unopened bottles of this not seen for decades just sitting there..

My aunt wasn't extreme like the ones on the TV show...but she would go to the stores and stock up on deals and basically had an entire room dedicated to storing months or even years worth of paper towels, detergent, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and anything else that didn't need refrigeration and had a long shelf life....and even though she was all set for probably two years into the future...if there was a sale on paper towels or anything else she would STILL go shopping and buy even MORE! Not sure how.. but it never really got outta hand like some I've seen.

Wasn't this introduced in 1984 or 85... something like that? I remember vaguely it seems like there weren't a lot of liquids back then. Wasn't Wisk or ERA pretty much the only liquids back then... then suddenly a lot of brands started giving the option for liquid or powder.

Yes I’m sure that’s the case lol. If we only knew half of the awesome things that we would all go nuts for that get just thrown away it would just destroy us. I think you’re right about The 1984 to 85 timeframe that this came out. I have heard before also that it was mostly powder detergent offered prior to that. I’m sure one will show up eventually.

I really like the looks of those jugs. If I ever had one of those, I'd always have them refilled from the newer jugs.

Crap I think I missed this one I didn’t check back here in time. It said there was no shipping available though so I probably wouldn’t have got it anyways. Thanks for posting that I appreciate it. I guess that’s another place I can check periodically.
