I have an LA208 Washer, regular (smaller) capacity, 2 speed motor, and an LDE608 Electric Dryer with electronic moisture sensing. The L is the color code for Almond. I am located north of Atlanta, GA in Canton, GA. I had a local gent that was an experienced repairman who has maintained them. He has happily retired, and I am looking for someone or a company that might have experience with the older machines. I know that some of the members are in the Atlanta Metro area, and I am hoping that a member may be able to recommend a repairman. I recently repaired an injector on the washer, but I would like to have a professional for bigger jobs. Thank you!

Maytag LDE608 Electric Dryer, Thumping Sound

I have a Maytag LDE608 Electric Dryer with electronic moisture sensing. The L is the color code for Almond. It has developed a thumping sound. Not too loud, but seems to thump with every drum revolution. Would this possibly be a roller or glide issue? Many thanks, Ken

May be a loose baffle if it's every drum revolution.

Tear it apart check the baffles, drum rollers, glides, belt, idler pulley, and front/rear felt seals. I'd also check the plastic blower wheel as these strip after racking up the miles. Also a good idea to blow the motor out with compressed air and clean the cabinet up.

Here's how to remove/install the front panel, front bulkhead, drum, and belt.

What kind of shape is the belt in?

In the past, I've also seen a worn belt that was starting to come apart smack against the inside of the machine, and create a very similar symptom.
Hope this helps,
Thatwasherguy.
