If you make it spin faster, you might as well bolt it down to the floor since the suspension on those belt drive washers were only made for a 500 to 525 rpm spin speed. Since you have the TOL Imperial Mark 18, you have the flexibility of having a gentle wash with a fast spin or a regular wash wish a slow spin or vice versa.

I remember asking my good friend Richard (speedqueen) what would happen if you made a belt drive spin faster and he mentioned tomturbomatic did something similar years ago (a thread somewhere in the archives) and the machine literally had to be bolted down to the floor since it would shake from the higher spin speeds. The belt drive washers do indeed spin slower but a 500 to 525 rpm spin speed was much faster compared to some other machines such as Westinghouse that only had a 300 rpm spin speed and the GE combo units that literally only had a 200 or so rpm spin speed. A 500 to 525 rpm spin speed is quite antiquated these days but I can easily put up with a slower spinning machine over the newer machines that are sold today.

Members here have experimented with different pulley and belt combos. Be warned that this this will also affect agitation speeds.
