Hello Everyone,

Just thought I would put the feelers out again, if anyone has seen one or knows a collector who has one.

Based in Melbourne, Australia here...

Kind Regards :)

Hmmmm a bouncing basket down under???

Now that is interesting, that manual cover of the Astor is exactly the same as the 1955 Apex washer's manual cover...

That would be because Astor made washers under license from Apex...

@Unimatic1140

Woweee what a compare!

That’s blatant 😂

I’m sure Apex machines are easier to come by than an Astor Automatic in Australia. Maybe I should ship over an Apex instead!

@Laundress

Yes! Absolutely impossible to find. I doubt there’s a single surviving machine with an Astor badge here but I won’t give up!

Thanks for the Simpson tip off on hi bids. I won it. Do vintage machines pop up much on there?

Interesting

Australian Astor washing machine had a green fiberglass tub and an agitator as different to the Apex bouncing wash basket. Sold by H.G. Palmer in Victoria

@Simpsomatic

Thanks for that information. As I can find so little on these machines, how did know that about these machines?

Apex also made a back and forth agitator washer with a fiberglass tub from about 1955 on until the end. It was labeled under brands such as Marquette, Zenith, Montgomery Ward and a few others, apparently Astor as well. I assume it was produced in Australia using Apex's design.

@Unimatic1140

Very interesting

When did Apex fold over there?
